PTE is a computer-based English language proficiency test used for study-abroad and visa purposes. The test assesses a candidate's English language skills in speaking, writing, reading, and listening.
There are 20 different question types across the test — reviewing each format ahead of test day matters, since every part is scored differently.
54–67 minutes, seven question types — the longest section, testing speaking and writing in an academic context.
29–30 minutes, five question types — multiple-choice, re-ordering paragraphs, and fill-in-the-blank questions.
30–43 minutes, eight question types based on audio or video clips you hear once, with notes allowed.
Overall score range: 10-90
PTE Academic is taken on a computer in a secure, friendly test-centre environment.
