About IELTS
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam is an internationally recognized test of English language proficiency. It is designed to assess the English language skills of individuals who want to study, work, or immigrate to countries where English is the primary language of communication.
The IELTS exam is available in two formats: Academic and General Training.
- The Academic version is intended for those who want to study at a university or other higher education institution in an English-speaking country.
- The General Training version is suitable for those who are seeking employment, or training programs in English-speaking countries, or for those who want to immigrate to countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the UK.
TEST PATTERN
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam has four main sections: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
Listening:- The listening section consists of four recorded conversations or monologues that are played only once. There are 40 questions that test your ability to comprehend the spoken English language, and it lasts for approximately 30 minutes
Reading:- The reading section consists of three long reading passages with a variety of question types, including multiple-choice, identifying information, matching information, and sentence completion. There are 40 questions in total, and it lasts for approximately 60 minutes.
Writing:- The writing section has two tasks. In Task 1, you will be asked to describe a graph, table, chart, or diagram in your own words. In Task 2, you will be asked to write an essay on a given topic. The writing section lasts for approximately 60 minutes.
Speaking:- The speaking section is a face-to-face interview that lasts for approximately 11-14 minutes. It is divided into three parts: In Part 1, the examiner will ask you general questions about yourself and your interests. In Part 2, you will be given a task card with a topic to talk about for two minutes. In Part 3, you will be asked follow-up questions related to the topic you talked about in Part 2.
The scores of the IELTS Exam are valid for 2 years.
